Why Coco Paste?

NATURAL IS HEALTHY!

There is currently a strong demand for toothpaste with natural ingredients as a derivative of the overall popular trend for products that consist of 100% natural ingredients. Parents especially prioritize ensuring that the products they purchase for their children’s use are made without harmful chemicals. Toothpaste is particularly important for children, who often swallow it by accidentand become exposed to harmful chemicals. Cocoa bean extract provides a complete source of active ingredients for toothpaste, including antibacterial, anti-cavity, plaque cleaning, and remineralizing agents.

DANGERS OF FLUORIDE:

Fluoride is the main active ingredient in toothpaste, but it can be harmful to young children due to common accidental swallowing. Toothpaste packaging typically has warnings ‘‘Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If accidentally swallowed, get medical help, or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.’’

Ingestion of fluoride is associated with a higher risk of permanent discoloration of teeth and skeletal fluorosis, which makes bones more fragile. In addition, fluoride accumulation in the pineal gland can disrupt the production of melatonin and sleep patterns. Significant proportions of the population in developed countries are suffering from fluorosis due to the fluoridation of drinking water and dental products.

According to research, in 2011, Poison Control Centers received 21,513 calls concerning accidental ingestion of fluoridated toothpaste. Statistics show that children between the ages of one and three years ingest 30–75% of the toothpaste. Over 80% of cases of fluoride toxicity occur in children under six years old, due to accidental swallowing of fluoride-containing toothpaste or mouthwashes.

Direct side effects of fluoride ingestion include pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases of fluoride poisoning can cause renal and cardiac dysfunction and even death. Therefore, natural and non-toxic alternatives to fluoride in toothpaste are necessary, especially for young children.
